Ghanaian midfielder Brendan Sarpong Wiredu has reacted to Colchester United’s 2-0 win over Southend United in the English League Two on Tuesday night.
Two nice goals in the first half from Michael Folivi and Harry Pell ensured Colchester United earned a valuable win at the expense of Essex rivals Southend United in the penultimate home game of the season.
The English-born enforcer was a delight to watch in midfield as he dominated play with some good passes and ball distribution. He has so far this campaign made 17 League game appearances, scoring a goal in the process.
Folivi tapped in from close range following in from Harry Pell’s effort to set the U’s on their way before Harry Pell sealed it with a powerful volley that was unstoppable.
Brendan Wiredu again started and lasted the entire duration of the match but Kwame Opoku was not named in the matchday squad.
The midfielder took to social media after the game to celebrate the important victory.
hope you lot enjoyed that at home!😃

Colchester United were dangerous and were perhaps a little unlucky not to have a spot kick ten minutes into the second period.
Michael Folivi went down in the area under the challenge from Hobson, but the referee gave a free kick to the Shrimpers.
Unfortunately, Michael Folivi was unable to continue after the challenge and had to be replaced by Jevani Brown.
Colchester now move up to twenty-first, moving above Barrow on forty-seven points.
