The away team after piling a thunderous pressure on the Sporting Gijonin, made them struggle in the first half as Ghanaian international Richard Boateng scored in the 40th minute to give his side an emphatic 3-0 lead before recess.
Back from break, Sporting Gijonin dominated play but failed to unlock the visitors resolute defense in their bid to at least draw the game.
Uros Djurdjevic however, managed to grab the only consolation goal for the home team leaving the fans who thronged the stadium highly dejected.
