The Black Satellites have been eliminated from the group stages of the 2023 WAFU Zone B Boys U-20 Cup of Nations following a 1-1 draw against the host nation, Côte d’Ivoire, in their final Group A match at the Champroux Stadium.

Ghana entered the game needing a victory to progress to the semifinals of the competition. However, their campaign got off to a rocky start as they squandered an early lead, resulting in a 1-1 draw against Niger in their first match, followed by a 2-0 defeat to Burkina Faso in their second game.

In the decisive Group A clash against Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana failed to achieve the desired result and could only manage a 1-1 draw, subsequently missing out on a place in the semifinals.

Meanwhile, in the other Group A encounter, Burkina Faso secured a 2-0 victory over Niger, finishing at the top of the group with 9 points. Côte d’Ivoire claimed the second spot with 4 points, Ghana settled for third place with 2 points, and Niger finished at the bottom with a single point.

The semifinal opponents for Burkina Faso and Côte d’Ivoire will be determined on Friday, June 14, when Benin takes on Togo in the lone Group B fixture.
