Note a single referee from Ghana has been selected to officiate in the upcoming 2017 CUP of Nations slated for Gabon.
The list released by Confederations of African Football had no Ghanaian referee to officiate in the continental tournament.
CAF selected 17 center referees and 21 assistant referees for the tournament excluding Ghanaian officials.
Ghanaian referee Joseph Lamptey had high hopes of making the cut but was snubbed for next year’s competition due to a three months ban imposed on him by CAF after awarding a dubious penalty to South Africa in their World Cup qualifying game against Senegal.
Ghana has seven FIFA Referees and seven assistants but none was selected by CAF raising huge concerns over the performance of the match officials in the local game.
