In-form striker Abdul-Aziz Yakubu has secured promotion with Estoril Praia SAD into the Portuguese Prima Liga after 0-0 draw on Sunday at Penafiel.
The 22-year-old Ghanaian forward 76 minutes of the entertaining goalless draw match which ensured the qualification of Estoril into the Portuguese top-flight for next season.
The game was an action-packed one with both sides playing quality and entertaining football despite not being able to find the back of the net for the whole of the 90 minutes.
With three games left to play before the end of the season, the Yellow and Blues have already booked their top-flight ticket for the 2021-22 football season in Portugal.
Estoril Praia have amassed 66 points from 31 matches and are seven points clear off the top spot and 10 points ahead of third-placed team Arouca which means they could afford to lose all three games and still qualify for the Prima Liga.
The Ghanaian striker has scored twelve goals this season in 26 matches with two assists to his credit as he helps his team gain promotion to the top level of football in Portugal where he would be playing against this year’s Champions League quarter finalist and former winners FC Porto, Benfica and Sporting Lisbon among other teams.
Yakubu is second joint top scorer on 12 goals in the league and three behind the top scorer Cassiano of Vizela.
