English-born Ghanaian striker Maleace Kobby Afriyie Asamoah netted his first hat-trick of the season for Waterford FC in their 4:1 convincing victory over Dundalk in the League of Ireland Premier Division.

The Fleetwood Town loanee netted a hat-trick to guide Waterford FC to lift his side up to fourth in this win over bottom side Dundalk FC at the RSC in the Ireland Premier Division on Friday 10th May, 2024.

Dundalk’s continued goalkeeping woes were to blame for the first goal on two minutes.

Ross Munro, who replaced the ten-game suspended George Shelvey between the sticks, rushed a clearance that was picked up by Asamoah, whose right-footed finish found the far corner.j

The leveller for the Lilywhites also came courtesy of a goalkeeping error, this time from Sam Sargeant on 22 minutes.

The Blues netminder played a clearance straight to Jamie Gullan, and his perfectly weighted pass found Robbie Benson, whose left-footed finish found the far corner.

Waterford regained their advantage with a sweeping move down the right a minute before the break.

Darragh Power fed Connor Parsons down the flank before he crossed into the centre where Asamoah placed his second past Munro.

Christie Pattisson added the home side’s third goal on 52 minutes before the brilliance of Asamoah that gave Waterford a fourth on 76 minutes.

Asamoah chipped the ’keeper from 25-yards to complete his treble and secure a result to seal a third win in eight days. Noel King’s men remain firmly routed to the bottom.

Born in Oxford, England to Ghanaian parents, the 21-year old forward has notched six goals in fifteen games for Waterford FC in 2024.
