German-born Ghanaian youngster Emmanuel Gyamfi has signed his first professional contract with 2. Bundesliga side Schalke 04, the club announced.
The 19-year-old midfield sensation was awarded a long-term contract by the Gelsenkirchen club following his outstanding performances with the U23 squad, marking him as a rising star in recent football seasons.
Announcing the deal, Schalke 04 officials stated that Gyamfi’s contract will run until June 2028. The club’s official website quoted: “After five years in the Knappenschmiede, the next step now follows: Emmanuel Gyamfi has signed his first professional player contract with FC Schalke 04. The working paper is valid until June 30, 2028.”
Expressing his excitement after signing the contract, Gyamfi said, “I would like to thank those responsible at Schalke for their trust. In the past few years, I have been able to continue to develop at Knappenschmiede and now I would like to take the next step in professional football on a permanent basis.”
During the 23/24 Regionalliga West campaign, Gyamfi made 21 league appearances for Schalke 04 II, scoring once and providing two assists.
Despite his German upbringing, Gyamfi remains eligible to switch allegiance and play for Ghana at the international level, as he has yet to be capped by the German senior national team.
