Ghanaian youngster Forson Amankwah featured in Austrian giants Red Bull Salzburg’s victory over Spanish giant FC Barcelona on Wednesday evening.
The former West African Football Academy (WAFA) SC graduate played the closing minutes of the match to help his side secure a famous international club-friendly win against Barcelona.
Noah Okafor missed two sitters in the first half which could have given the home team a comfortable two-goal lead but the 21-year-old fluffed his lines from close range.
Just before the break, Luka Susic, a 19-year-old midfielder scored a scorcher to put the Red and Whites a deserving first-half lead.
Two minutes to the end of the game, Forson was given a chance to play at the Red Bull Arena in front of the packed supporters when the score was still 1-1 after a fortunate equalizer from Danish international, Martin Braithwaite.
The Ghanaian showed glimpses of brilliance during the few minutes he spent on the field and helped his team to secure a last-gasp win over the Spanish giant.
Beenden Aaronson grabbed the winner with virtually the last touch of the match when he tapped home a rebound from close range to give the home team a 2-1 win against Barcelona.
