Ghanaian youth striker Enock Amponsah Asante, has been handed a 12-month contract extension at English side Tottenham Hotspur, SPORTSworldGhana.com can exclusively report.
The 18-year-old has been handed a fresh deal following his impressive display with the club’s U18 team.
Born in Akuapim-Mampong in Ghana, Asante a former Riverhawks FC player, was brought up in Harts Lane, attending Dagenham Park School and joined Tottenham’s Under-16 team in 2017/18 and was part of the young side that won the Liam Brady Cup at Arsenal.
The Centre-Forward who holds British passport, also made one substitute appearance for the club’s Under-18 in their 4-0 opening-day win over Norwich City.
Unfortunately, his first season as a full-time player with the club’s Under-18 side during the 2018/19 season, was blighted by a long-term injury and he made just a solitary Under-18 Premier League appearance in a 2-0 home win over Chelsea in August, 2018.
Asante featured for Tottenham Hotspur’s U21 team when they loss 2-1 to Ipswich Town in September last year in the Leasing.com Trophy game.
The promising talent after recovering from his long-tern injury, has managed 9 caps with 2 goals for Tottenham Hotspur’s U18 side in the 2019/2020 season.
He is expected to make good use of his new contract to make a case for himself with the U23 team as he hopes to make his dream Premier League debut with Tottenham.
