Ghanaian striker Antoine Semenyo has praised AFC Bournemouth’s climb to second place in the Premier League, describing it as a big milestone following their thrilling comeback victory over Fulham at the Vitality Stadium.
The Cherries fell behind early in the second half through Ryan Sessegnon’s strike, but Semenyo took charge of the game with a superb performance. He netted twice and assisted another, while Justin Kluivert added a goal to complete a 3-1 win for Andoni Iraola’s men.
Reflecting on his opening goal, the 25-year-old explained his decision-making in the moment.
“My plan was to beat the full-back and maybe whip in a cross, but the spaces were closed off. I noticed the keeper’s legs open, so I went for it—and it worked perfectly,” he said after the game.
Semenyo credited confidence and team chemistry for his strong form this season.
“I’m just enjoying my football, playing with belief, and loving every minute with this team,” he noted.
He also highlighted the importance of Bournemouth’s current position on the league table.
“This feeling is unbelievable. To be second going into the international break is special. For us, it’s an achievement, but we know we have to keep pushing,” he added.
The win moved Bournemouth up to 14 points, continuing their impressive run under Iraola. Semenyo, who has now registered six goals and three assists this campaign, remains one of the league’s standout performers.
His brilliant displays have also earned him a place in Otto Addo’s 24-man Black Stars squad ahead of Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against the Central African Republic and Comoros.
