Ghana’s winger Emmanuel Quartsin Gyasi was heavily involved in Spezia Calcio’s historical promotion into the Serie A for the first time in the club’s history.
The Ghana international scored the only and vital goal for the Black and Whites in their first-leg win over Frosinone in the Serie B play-off final.
The host on Thursday night lost the return leg by same margin at home to visitors Frosinone who were determined to overturn the first-leg defeat at home.
However, Spezia made it to Serie A for the first time in their history as the Ligurians lost tonight.
The play-off final ended 1-1 on aggregate. But Spezia [3rd] win promotion because they placed higher than Nesta’s Frosinone [8th] in the regular season. No extra-time in the time of COVID-19.
Spezia will be the 68th different team to play in a Serie A campaign after their promotion into the top-flight where they would be playing against the likes of Juventus FC, the Milan clubs among many other elite clubs in Italy.
Gyasi played 33 times in the regular season scoring eight goals and providing three assists in the process.
The Ghanaian would have a taste of top-flight football next season as he hopes to reach the top level of his football career.
