Former Asante Kotoko defender Gideon Baah is now a free agent after he was released by Major League Soccer club (MLS) New York Red Bulls FC.
Baah, 26, joined New York from Finnish top flight side HJK Helsinki but his stint in the USA has been plagued by injuries.
The club made the announcement on Monday as it sought to outline its squad for the coming season.
Baah was among 10 players Red Bulls decided to let go after their season ended in the playoffs with a loss to Toronto FC.
’New York declined options on defenders Sal Zizzo, and Gideon Baah, along with midfielders Mike Grella, Dilly Duka, Dan Metzger, Arun Basuljevic, Vince Bezecourt, and Zeiko Lewis, and forwards Gonzalo Veron and Brandon Allen. Veteran defender Damien Perrinelle’s contract expired at the end of 2017’’ New York posted on their official website.
Baah looked to have been a major steal when acquired in February 2016 and was impressive in the limited number of games he got until he broke his leg in 2016. He made a total of nine appearances, netting two goals.
Baah expressed his gratitude to the team for his time there. He posted on Twitter;
