Ghana international Gideon Mensah will be absent when Bordeaux takes on Lens on Sunday, in the French Ligue 1 due to Covid-19 health protocols.
The former West African Football Academy (WAFA) SC graduate came to Ghana for the opening two 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and will now have to quarantine for 7 to days due to the traveling restrictions in France concerning people who arrive in the country after visiting South Africa.
He sat on the bench when Ghana played against Ethiopia at the Cape Coast stadium before playing the entire duration of the 1-0 defeat to South Africa in Johannesburg due to the absence of English Championship side Reading FC defender, Abdul Baba Rahman.
The 23-year-old has been in fine form for Bordeaux since sealing a loan move from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg playing two two matches for the Mauves and Whites.
He is likely to return to action on the following matchday if he is declared Covid-19 negative after the quarantine period.
