Accra Hearts of Oak are still without a home league win over Ashantigold in over six years following the 2-2 draw between the two sides on Tuesday.
The Phobians were due to play Aduana Stars in Dormaa for their league opener but that game was called off due to Covid-19 issues but the Continental Club Masters were in action on Tuesday against a long rival.
Matches between Hearts of Oak and Ashantigold – previously known as Goldfields – has always been a sold out with the two teams taking to the pitch to do battle more than fifty times.
But the last time Hearts of Oak played at home and defeated the Miners was 26 March, 2014 when Mohammed Polo was in charge of the Phobians. They won 2-1 with goals from Gerard Odupong Wellington and Paul Acquah as Emmanuel Osei scored the Ashgold goal.
The Miners have since recorded two victories and four draws in their last six visits to Hearts of Oak.
