Jacob Boazee proved decisive as Basake Holy Stars secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Swedru All Blacks in Week 23 of the Ghana Premier League at the AAK II Sports Stadium in Ampain.
Basake Holy Stars boosted their hopes of staying in the top flight with a vital three points in a tense relegation contest.
The first half was tightly contested, with both teams playing cautiously due to their positions near the bottom of the table.
Holy Stars controlled more of the ball and showed greater attacking intent, but clear scoring opportunities were limited. Swedru All Blacks stayed organised defensively and looked to break forward when possible.
The breakthrough came in the 60th minute when Jacob Boazee took advantage of a defensive mistake inside the penalty area and calmly finished to give the hosts the lead.
Swedru All Blacks responded by pushing more players forward in search of an equaliser, but Holy Stars remained solid at the back and managed the closing stages well.
The win moves Holy Stars further away from the relegation zone, while All Blacks continue to face pressure as the fight to avoid the drop intensifies.
