Legon Cities were held to a 1-1 drawn game at the Accra Sports stadium by Berekum Chelsea in the opening match of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.
Chelsea skipper Stephen Amankona converted a 22nd penalty to put the visitors in the lead after striker Kofi Owusu was brought down in the area but Legon equalized twelve minutes later in a similar manner as Jona Attuquaye scored from the spot kick.
It was former Asante Kotoko player Baba Mahama who was brought down in the box in the 34th minute and Jonah who played for the 2011 Ghana champions last season did not make any mistake against goalkeeper Kwame Agyei.
Legon Cities brought on Nasiru Moro and Anim Cudjoe in the second half in search for the winner but the scoreline will remain level.
Berekum Chelsea replaced Stephen Sarfo in the first half with Paul Atta Agyei and in the second period the experienced Jordan Opoku came on for the injured Hamza Gonji.
