Liberty Professionals scored twice in the second half to see off Ebusua Dwarfs on Match day six of the Ghana Premier League at the Carle Reindorf Park on Sunday afternoon.
A goal by substitute Manuel Sarpong in the last minute of regulation time ensured that the home side came from a goal down to record a hard fought 2-1 win over the crabs.
Dwarfs had taken the lead early in the first half through Skipper Nicholas Gyan after a good work by Joseph Esso.
But Liberty fought back in the second to equalize through Skipper Samuel Sarfo before substitute Sarpong sealed the victory in the 90th minutes.
The game begun in a scrappy fashion with both sides struggling to have control in midfield.
But the Liberty defense lost concentration with the ball in their half and Esso dispossessed Simon Zibo and subsequently found his captain Gyan who made no mistake in putting Dwarfs in front on thirteen minutes.
Liberty tried to reply immediately but they made no progress as Dwarfs managed to keep them at bay after the opening goal.
However, it was Zibo who was largely at fault for the Dwarfs goal, who got Liberty’s first real chance at goal but his ferocious striker from 25 yards went high over the bar in the 26th minute.
The Scientific Soccer lads kept pressing for the equalizing but without success as the the clock tickle down to the end if the opening half.
The second half begun in similar fashion to the with both teams making things difficult for each other especially in the middle of the pitch.
Liberty made the first substitution of the afternoon, bringing on Manuel Sarpong in place of Samuel Annang in the 52nd minute.
The sub added some bite in their attack and they begun to pile pressure on the Dwarfs goal.
Striker Bernard was denied the chance to get to the end of a Sarpong cross by Dwarfs keeper Andoh in the 70th minute before Sarpong again saw a goal bound effort parried away shortly after.
The Dansoman based side kept pressing on for the equalizer. The found one with 10 minutes remaining from Skipper Sarfo following a corner kick.
Sarpong then sealed the victory for Liberty in the final minutes of regulation when he was put through by fellow substitute Brite Andoh.
Dwarfs tried to fight back for the equalizer but Liberty managed to hold on for the additional 5 minutes to record a third home victory in a role.
