Orlando Wellington, assistant coach of Accra Great Olympics, credits the team’s emphasis on playing to its strengths for their crucial 1-0 triumph against Asante Kotoko.
The Wonder Club clinched a hard-fought victory over the Porcupine Warriors in the Matchday 32 clash at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.
Despite a tense moment in the 16th minute when Kotoko’s Steven Mukwala missed a penalty, goalkeeper Benjamin Asare’s heroics kept the Dade Boys in contention.
Raymond Grippman sealed the win with a goal in the 43rd minute, securing three vital points for the two-time Ghana Premier League champions.
Reflecting on the game in his post-match remarks, coach Wellington emphasized the importance of capitalizing on the team’s physical attributes, stating, “We don’t rely so much on building out from the back because we have players who can run, we have players with a lot of strength, so we played to our strength,” he said.
Despite the victory, Great Olympics sits in 16th place on the Premier League table with 39 points.
They are gearing up to face city rivals Hearts of Oak in the upcoming Matchday 33 fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium.
