Manager of League 2 side Grimsby Town says they will not be signing Omar Bogle due to his huge wages.
The English-born Ghanaian striker attained cult status at Grimsby Town during the 2017 season as he banged in the goals which propelled them to the fourth-tier before he left for Wigan Athletic.
Currently, a free agent after leaving Cardiff City this summer, fans of the “Mariners” are eager to have him back in their fold but their boss the club cannot afford the attacker.
“I liked him first time around – not this time,” Holloway told Grimsby Live.
“I like people on their way up. What Grimsby Town got right about him is we took him when he wanted to become something.
“The pay level he has been on since also outstrips us. When you offer someone a lot less money than they were on before at their last jobs, it often doesn’t work.
“It’s no good looking backwards. If that was the case, Alan Buckley would be the manager again, wouldn’t he? Our most successful time was under Alan – give it back to Al. I’m not knocking it, he might be brilliant again. But I’ve got it now so he’s not having it.
