Manchester City FC manager Pep Guardiola has praised Antoine Semenyo after the Ghanaian forward was named Premier League Player of the Month for February.
Semenyo earned the accolade following an impressive run of form during his second month at the Etihad Stadium, scoring three goals and providing one assist in five league appearances.
The Ghana national football team attacker has quickly adapted to life at City and is already playing a key role as Guardiola’s side push to reclaim the league title.
Speaking ahead of City’s clash with West Ham United FC, Guardiola expressed his delight for the striker.
“I’m so happy for him. He’s an incredible guy and he deserves it,” Guardiola said during his pre-match press conference.
Semenyo joined City from AFC Bournemouth during the winter transfer window and has made an immediate impact.
Reacting to the award, the Ghanaian forward thanked his teammates and coaching staff for helping him settle quickly at the club.
“This is a brilliant moment for me. To win the Premier League Player of the Month so soon after joining City is something I’ll never forget,” he said.
“It’s been an amazing start to life here. I’m learning every day and already feel like I’m becoming a better player. Everyone has made me feel welcome from day one, which has helped me focus on performing on the pitch.”
