Former Hearts of Oak and Black Stars midfielder, Torric Jerbrin has paid tribute to the late grassroots football legend, Saani Mohammed, popularly known as Sani Dendem, who passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024.
The man known for his immense contribution to juvenile football in the country died after battling a short illness in Kumasi.
The football community in Ghana has been mourning since the news of his passing broke, with many paying tribute to the legend on social media.
Latest to add to the glowing tribute is Torric Jebrin who was groomed by Sani Dendem before his move to Hearts of Oak in 2008.
“I started my colts football at Anokye Fc (Sanni Demdem) .He took me as a son and took care of my junior high school education . He was a father for all, it’s really nice to be around him because of his great personality and sense of humour hmmm,” he wrote o Facebook.
“You left exactly how you wanted ( strong ). This is going to be a very difficult one for all of us, but I guess that’s the price to pay when you open up to love.It was unusual.”

Sani Dendem is credited for unearthing several top Ghanaian footballers, including the famous Bashiru Gambo, Tony Yeboah, Francis Akwafo, Osei Kwame Junior, Isaac Boakye, Isaac Kwakye, Prince Polley among others.
Saani Dendem, known in real life as Saani Mohammed, was also the founder and owner of lower-tier side Anokye Stars.
