Real Tamale United destroyed Hearts of Oak by 4-1 at the Accra Sports stadium during the final week of the Ghana Premier League.
The Northern giants needed to win to avoid relegation from the country’s top flight and after 38 minutes they were comfortably leading the Champions of last season on their own turf by 3-1.
The Phobians scored first through Suraj Seidu in the 9th minute but RTU equalized in the 19th minute thanks to a header by Roland Frimpong who went ahead to bag a brace.
A penalty from captain David Abagna made it 2-1 for the visitors in the 30th minute before Frimpong realized his brace eight minutes later.
A fourth goal of RTU in the 76th minute recorded as an own goal took the game completely beyond the reach of the home team.
RTU with 41 points thus avoided relegation with this huge win whilst sixth-placed Hearts of Oak failed to finish in the Top 4.
