Head coach of Hearts of Oak, Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, remains optimistic about his team’s development despite their narrow 2-1 defeat to Asante Kotoko in the 2025 President’s Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The former Black Stars assistant coach, who recently signed a two-year contract with the Phobians, had been eyeing his first silverware with the club. Hearts of Oak took the lead in the second half, but quickly conceded two goals, handing victory to their fierce rivals.
Speaking after the match, Dramani acknowledged the setback but noted that it’s all part of the game.
“This is part of the football journey. At a time when we had control, we unfortunately lost a key player, Osei Asibey, and Kotoko capitalized on that moment. We have to give them credit.”
Despite the defeat, the experienced coach stressed that Hearts of Oak is still a team in transition, focused on building a strong foundation for long-term success.
“We’re going through a progressive phase. I’m quite pleased with the team’s structure and execution. There’s been significant improvement, but more work lies ahead. With a few adjustments, I’m confident we’ll get to where we want to be.”
Dramani also thanked the supporters for their passionate backing, urging them to continue rallying behind the team.
“We truly appreciate our fans. Their support means everything, and we hope to see more of this energy moving forward.”
The Phobians will now shift focus to the upcoming Eko International Cup in Nigeria, as part of their pre-season preparations ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
