Hearts of Oak have been fined GHS20,000, with GHS10,000 suspended for the rest of the season, after the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Disciplinary Committee found the club guilty of a security lapse during their Ghana Premier League match against Young Apostles FC on March 8, 2025.
The ruling stated that Hearts of Oak failed to enforce strict security measures, allowing unaccredited individuals—mostly supporters—into restricted areas designated for players and officials. Reports indicated that unauthorized persons were seen in the dressing room vicinity and the technical area, compromising matchday security.
The committee stressed the need for stronger security enforcement at league matches and warned that repeat offenses would result in harsher penalties. As part of the ruling, Hearts of Oak must implement stricter security measures for their home games to prevent similar incidents.
The club has seven days to appeal the decision but is also required to submit a report outlining the steps they will take to address the issue. Failure to comply could lead to additional sanctions, including home match suspensions.
