Hearts of Oak will play their Ghana Premier League match against Nations FC at the Tuba Astroturf on Wednesday after the National Sports Authority (NSA) denied them access to the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) had initially scheduled the match for the Accra Sports Stadium without securing a formal agreement with the NSA. In response, the NSA issued a firm statement refuting the announcement, confirming that the stadium remains closed for renovation following the Ghana-Chad 2026 World Cup qualifier.
Hearts of Oak have been without a permanent home venue this season. Since September 2024, they have been using the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon for home matches due to concerns over the Accra Sports Stadium’s condition. However, that facility has also been shut down for renovation ahead of the CAF African Schools Football Championship, scheduled from April 21 to April 26, 2025.
The closure of the University of Ghana Stadium has further complicated Hearts of Oak’s venue challenges, forcing the club to seek alternative locations. With limited options available, they have had to settle for the Tuba Astroturf, a significantly smaller venue compared to the Accra Sports Stadium.
