Egypt national team manager Héctor Cúper said that he is disappointed with the result and believes Egypt lost because of individual mistakes.
Egypt suffered a devastating 3-1 defeat against World Cup hosts Russia in the second group stage game.
They suffered their second defeat of the tournament and are most probably going to be kicked-out of the tournament if Uruguay manage to beat Saudi Arabia on Wednesday.
“I think we generally performed well but the mistakes cost us a lot,” Cúper told BEIN Sports.
“We had some opportunities during the game but at the end we conceded some goals because of some terrible mistake and that happens in football.
“I’m obviously not happy about the result. I don’t know what happened at the beginning of the second-half, we made a lot of mistakes because of a lack of concentration and the Russian team were able to make the most out of it,” he added.
“This is football. The team were good in general throughout the game if not for the mistakes.” Cúper concluded.
Egypt still have one game against Saudi Arabia in their final group stage game on June 25.
