After Week 9 of the Ghana Premier League, SPORTSWorldGhana takes a look at the eighteen football clubs and their respective leading goalscorers so far.
1.Karela United
Topscorer : Diawisie Taylor – 8 goals
The Anyinase-based side are currently leading the league standings with 17 points after 9 games and club leading goalscorer Taylor has been very important towards this achievement at this points thanks to his 8 goals netted in the campaign. Taylor is also joint-leading goalscorer of the league alongside WAFA’s Daniel Lomotey.
Next to him in the club is partner Kwame Boateng who has scored four times.
2.Bechem United
Topscorer : Moro Salifu and Steven Owusu – 3 goals each
Majority of the 10 league goals of the Hunters have come from the boots of midfielder and skipper Moro Salifu who is pictured below. Also striker Steven Owusu has scored 3 goals and holds this position jointly with Moro.
3.Asante Kotoko
Topscorer : Kame Poku – 6 goals
Kotoko have scored 9 goals in 9 games this season and Poku accounts for six of them alone as the main source of goals for the team of Otumfour Osei Tutu II.
4.Ashantigold
Topscorer : Hans Kwoffie – 4 goals
The veteran striker has 4 goals this season for the Miners. He is followed by Yaw Annor and Appiah McCarthy who are on 3 goals each so far.
5.Hearts of Oak
Topscorer : Victor Aidoo – 4 goals
The strong shooter of the ball did not start the season as a main target man for the Phobians but since the King Faisal 2-1 win in Techiman, Aidoo has not looked backed as he currently has 4 goals to his name and is the club’s highest goalscorer. Obeng Kojo Jr remains on 3 goals for Hearts of Oak.
6.Great Olympics
Topscorer : Gladson Awako and Maxwell Abbey Quaye – 3 goals each
7.WAFA
Topscorer : Daniel Lomotey – 8 goals
The 21-year old left the country to sign for his new club in Tunisia having scored 8 goals in 9 games as joint-topscorer of the Ghana Premier League alongside Karela’s Diawisie Taylor.
8.Aduana Stars
Topscorer : Yahaya Mohammed – 5 goals
Even with all the problems associated with his physical health , Yayaha has netted five times so far for Ogya boys. Ever reliable.
9.Medeama
Topscorer : Agyenim Boateng – 3 goals
10.Elmina Sharks
Topscorer – James Bissue – 3 goals
11.Ebusua Dwarfs
Topscorer : Benjamin Acquah – 2 goals
12.Eleven Wonders
