He’s ungrateful; Hearts pays him GHS9,600 monthly – Odotei on Fatawu Mohammed

Former Hearts of Oak defender and skipper Fatawu Mohammed has made headlines ranting about his former club, making damning revelations.

Mohammed has reportedly been released by the club as he has been deemed surplus to requirements at the Rainbow Club.

Speaking to Sports Obama TV, the 30-year-old right back revealed that Hearts of Oak has offered him nothing after almost a decade of playing for them.

However, speaking to Class Sports, Board Member for the club Honourable Vincent Sowah Odotei has stated categorically that Fatawu Mohammed is paid so much money and therefore he wonders why the former captain would go around making such allegations about the 2020/21 premier league champions.

Odotei, thus, revealed how much Fatawu Mohammed was earning at the club.

“Do you know how much Fatawu gets paid a month? GHS9,600! That is his gross salary,” the board member said.

Odotei has left Fatawu to his conscience saying: “If a player is earning this kind of money and he comes on air and says he regrets playing for Hearts of Oak, Hearts of Oak is a rubbish club, people should not regard and all, that’s okay, fine.”

He also stressed that although the club is not interested in what any player goes out there to say, it had to set the record straight following the damning assessment by Fatawu.

The Former Member of Parliament for La Dade Kotopon Constituency said;

“People will put money and invest their time… We are not interested in this kind of banter, player comes and talks, no, we are not interested in that.”

“I am not being disrespectful to you or arrogant but we are human beings, it gets to a point where we have to say things,” he added.

Speaking further on Fatawu’s claim of not getting anything from Hearts as a reward for his 10-year service to the club, Odotei claimed that the former captain acquired the things he possesses now because of Hearts of Oak.

He maintained his stance on the fact that the club has nothing to say in reaction to Fatawu’s comments.

“See Fatawu, boasting all over that even though he has not been abroad before, he’s bought five pieces of land and he’s built a house or two houses – it’s all because of Hearts of Oak. If he comes back and says Hearts of Oak is a rubbish club, Barnieh should not register and all that, that’s okay. That’s fine,” Odotei bemoaned.

“We have nothing to say. If his gross salary is GHS9,600 to 9,800, and he still rubbishes the club, that’s fine, that’s fine.

“I hope you get the confidence to tell people how much he earns,” Vincent Sowah Odotei concluded.

Accra Hearts of Oak are officially yet to announce the departure of the former skipper Fatawu Mohammed as the betPawa Premier League bounced back on Monday, December 19, 2022, following the end of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Fatawu Mohammed has in the past won the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League, the MTN FA Cup twice in 2020/21, 21-22, the President’s Cup and the Super Cup.
