Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has attributed Albert Amoah’s impressive resurgence to a noticeable shift in the striker’s mindset and professionalism since returning to the club.
Amoah began the 2025/26 season brightly with the Porcupine Warriors before a short spell with Libyan side Al-Ahly Benghazi. After spending three months abroad, the forward made a swift return to Kumasi—and wasted no time announcing his comeback. He marked his first appearance back with a spectacular overhead kick in Kotoko’s 3-0 win over Basake Holy Stars at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, a result that halted a difficult run which included two draws and a narrow defeat to Swedru All-Blacks.
Speaking after the match, Zito praised the striker’s development, stressing that his time outside Ghana had reshaped his approach to the game.
“His approach has changed—his attitude has changed,” Zito explained. “When you go outside to play, certain realities force you to be more serious, and money is one of them.”
The Kotoko boss elaborated that the professional demands abroad come with consequences. “If you don’t do the right thing, they deduct from what you earn. Because they pay you more, the mentality towards the game becomes different, even though he is still the same Amoah we know,” he added.
Amoah’s renewed focus and sharper professionalism have brought fresh drive to Kotoko’s attacking unit, with Zito hopeful that the striker’s improved mindset will continue to influence the team positively as they push for consistency and success in the season ahead.
