Hohoe United have strengthened their attacking options ahead of the second half of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season with the signing of versatile forward Stephen Diyou on a long-term contract.
The nimble-footed attacker joins the Womee-based club from Nigerien top-flight side Sahel SC, bringing with him valuable domestic and international experience as Hohoe United look to revive their campaign.
Diyou is no stranger to Ghanaian football, having previously featured for Nsoatreman FC, where he earned plaudits for his pace, agility and direct attacking style. His return to the Ghana Premier League is expected to add creativity and penetration to a Hohoe United side that has struggled for goals this season.
Currently sitting 17th on the league table after 17 matches, Hohoe United are battling to climb out of the relegation zone and are targeting a stronger second-round performance following a difficult start to the campaign.
The club has already made changes off the pitch, appointing experienced trainer Boniface Ayipah following the departure of Abdul Rahim Bashiru. The former Skyy Power FC coach has been tasked with steadying the ship, improving results and addressing the team’s blunt attack.
Hohoe United have managed just 13 goals while conceding 17 in the first round, underlining the need for reinforcements in forward areas.
Diyou’s arrival is seen as a key step in that direction, with the winger expected to provide pace from the flanks and contribute goals and assists as the Warriors intensify their fight for survival.
Hohoe United will next face Hearts of Oak in a challenging Matchday 18 fixture of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League, where Diyou could be in line for an early impact.
