SPORTSWorldGhana takes a closer look at how the Ashanti region football clubs have fared so far in the ongoing Ghana Premier League season.
The three clubs are Asante Kotoko, Ashantigold and King Faisal Fooball Club. The best performing club as it stands now is the Porcupine Warriors who have taken over from the Miners. King Faisal are the worst among the three.
It should be stated that despite the fact that Kotoko and King Faisal are Ashanti-based teams, their home venues for this season are the Accra Sports stadium and Techiman Ohene Ameyaw Park respectively as the Babayara stadium undergoes renovation.
The team currently coached by Johnson Smith has also won the most games and possesses the best defence.
However in the area of attack, Ashgold are the most prolific side with 21 goals scored followed by King Faisal who have 15 goals netted. Kotoko have not done so well in terms of scoring plenty goals in matches and their 10 goals scored in 12 games is an evidence but their strong defence compensates for that by not allowing in many goals.
