Retired referee Joe Debrah has advised Ghanaian referees to boycott games if they feel their lives are in danger at match venues.
His comments come in the wake of an attack on a Division One referee and his assistants during a Division one league game in the Bono region.
Supporters of Wamanafo Mighty Royals on Sunday attacked match officials and beat them to a pulp after their game against Bofoakwa Tano.
The fans of the home team took to the field after the final whistle and assaulted the match officials resulting in centre referee Niatire Suntuo Aziz losing some of his teeth.
Center referee, Niatire Suntuo Aziz together with his assistants Suleman Mohammed & Yakubu Abdul Rahman were mercilessly manhandled.
Speaking on Sports Express on Monday, the referee chief insisted that match officials should just abandon games if security presence at venues is not massive
“What has happened I will just urge all referees in Ghana to take huge lessons from it “
“Whenever anybody goes for any match and there is no top-notch security at the venue, they should just abandon the game and come back because human parts cannot be bought at any hospital or pharmacy shops, “he told Starr Sports in an interview.
