In response to critics, Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum states that he is following directives from the life patron of the club, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The Ghanaian giants have struggled, amassing only ten points from a possible 27 in the first nine games of the season, placing them in 14th position on the league standings with 2 wins, 4 draws, and 3 losses.
Ogum, a former WAFA tactician, has faced intense pressure due to Kotoko’s unimpressive performance this season. However, he asserts that he is executing the vision outlined by the team owner, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
“The life patron of the team (Otumfuo) engaged me on three different occasions and he was blunt about his vision for the club before he granted me the position. The King wants us to rebuild a team for him, and that is exactly what I’m doing, and I can’t go outside that.”
“Because of that, we decided to go in for the Division One and Two players after missing out on those Premier League players, and given the time and the patience, they will be able to fit into the team.”
“So I am working strictly according to the instructions of the landlord, the King, and the owner of the club. I cannot do anything apart from that, and still when he calls me or talks with me, that is what he is still emphasizing,” he said.
