“I came as a boy, I am leaving as a man” – Danlad Ibrahim bids emotional farewell to Asante Kotoko after 7-year stay

Goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Asante Kotoko in a poignant farewell message following his departure from the club. 

The Ghanaian international goalkeeper, who joined the club in 2016, has left an indelible mark on the team, contributing significantly to their success during his seven-year tenure.

In a moving farewell message, Danlad Ibrahim thanked the club’s fans, staff, and management for making him the person he is today. He expressed his gratitude for the support he received during his stay with Kotoko, saying it will be cherished for the rest of his life.

“I want to use this opportunity to thank all Asante Kotoko family for making me who I am today. From the first day I joined this great club, I feel privileged and proud to represent Kotoko. I’m so grateful for all the support I have received and will be fabulous one for the rest of my life,” he said.

Danlad Ibrahim went on to praise the club’s fans, saying they will be missed dearly. He concluded by expressing his appreciation for the blessings he received during his time at the club and wishing everyone God’s blessings for their continued support.

“I know I am going to miss our cherish fans. I have nothing to say than to ask for God’s blessings for everyone for the support throughout my stay with Kotoko. I came as a boy, leaving as a man and forever as a supporter of Kotoko. Long live his Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, long live Kotoko, and long live Asanteman. Thank you”

During his time at Asante Kotoko, Danlad Ibrahim won several accolades, including the Ghana Premier League title in 2021-22, the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in 2021, and the WAFU Zone B U-20 Tournament in 2020. 

He was also honored as the Ghana Football Awards Goalkeeper of the Year in 2021 and won the Golden Glove award at both the WAFU Zone B U-20 Tournament in 2020 and the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in 2021.

Danlad Ibrahim made thirteen appearances for Asante Kotoko during the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season before his departure.
