Kwesi Appiah, the head coach of Sudan’s national team, is optimistic that both Sudan and Ghana will qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Currently, Appiah has led the Falcons to one win and one loss in their initial two AFCON qualifiers, positioning them in second place in Group F with three points. In contrast, Ghana’s Black Stars, managed by Otto Addo, are in third place with only one point, following a 1-0 defeat to Angola and a 1-1 draw against Niger.
As the two teams prepare to meet in the next round of qualifiers, Appiah shared his aspirations for both sides to progress to the tournament. “I hope both Ghana and Sudan qualify for the 2025 AFCON,” he stated in an exclusive interview with Asempa FM. “We just have to pray and hope that we all achieve our goal.”
The Black Stars will host Sudan in the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, October 10, with kick-off scheduled for 16:00 GMT. The return leg will take place on Monday, October 14, at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya.
