Ghanaian international Daniel Adjei says he is likely to sign a fresh contract with Ethiopian champions Jimma Aba Jifar following the expiration of his initial one –year contract with the club.
The 28 years joined the Ethiopian Premier League in October 2017 as a free agent after he failed to renew his contract with Tanzanian giants Simba SC.
The former Free State Stars Goalkeeper is reported to have left the club following the departure of head Coach Gebrmedhin Haile and other key players namely Aminu Nesser, Temesgen Gebrekidane, Henok Adugna, Okiki Afolabi, Yonas Geremew, Henok Isayas, Samson Kolcha and Biniyam Siraj.
But Ajdei tells SportsworldGhana.com exclusively that he is still in talks with Jimma Aba Jifar FC over a possible contract extension as the team prepares to compete in Africa next season.
‘’Yes it’s true that my contract with Jimma Aba City has ended but the team wants me to sign a fresh deal with them but I am yet to make a final decision. I may sign a new deal with them ’’ Daniel Adjei said.
He added ‘’ seriously I had an appointment in Holland so I had to leave the team’s camp immediately after our last game where we won the league for my scheduled appointment in Holland. In fact I didn’t even collect my medal’’
The former Liberty Professionals shot stopper had a successful season with Jimma Aba Jifar club after guiding them to win the 2017/2018 Ethiopian Premier League.
He was the first choice goalkeeper when Ghana won the FIFA U20 World Cup for the first ever time in 2009.
The five times capped Black Stars Goalkeeper previously has had stints with Liberty Professionals and Medeama SC in the Ghana Premier League.
