Cameroonian Football is in crisis as they are finding a way to resolve it. The senior national team, the Indomitable Lions failed to deliver to the satisfaction of Cameroonians in the just-ended AFCON 2023.
Sharing his opinion on how Cameroon must revive their football, the two-time AFCON winner Patrick M’boma indicated that Cameroon must select the German way.
“We can be like Italy, have a lot of World Cups and disappear for a certain moment.
“We saw Cameroon miss two African Cups in a row and then we managed to win it back. Cameroon missed the 2012 and 2013 AFCONs and exited in the group stage of the 2015 edition but suddenly won the 2017 AFCON from nowhere.
“But I prefer that we are like Germany where among young people there are always results, among seniors there are always results and in clubs, there are always results,” added the former forward.
M’bola suggested Cameroonian football must ensure that they will win at all levels including club football as Cameroonian clubs have toiled to make an impact on the African phase. He continued that the youth national teams must also win just like the senior national team.
“How do the Germans do it? They have an identity, a policy. They don’t model themselves on anyone and they progress wherever they decide to progress,” concluded M’boma.
Patrick M’boma commended the Germans for being competent in ensuring immense progress at all levels.
It was revealed yesterday that 91-year-old Cameroonian president Paul Biya is thinking of selecting the next head coach for the Indomitable Lions at the expense of the FA president Samuel Eto’o.
