Ghana defender Jerry Akaminko admits his eagerness to quickly return to full fitness was the cause of his prolonged issues with injuries.
The 29-year-old was out of action for over two years after picking up a bad ankle injury in the lead up to the 2014 World Cup.
Akaminko suffered several complications that even threatened his career after undergoing surgery to correct the original injury.
Now fully fit and back in action for the Black Stars, the Eskisehirspor defender revealed his impatience during rehabilitation prolonged his spell on the sidelines.
“I think I wanted to come back quickly and was a bit impatience,” he told FootballMadeInGhana.com about his prolonged injury spell.
“There were things I was supposed to do which I didn’t do. I didn’t listen to the doctors very well because I really wanted to come back quickly.
“At the end of the day, I have learnt my lessons and I am now in a better position to deal with injuries when they come.”
