Black Stars forward Antoine Semenyo believes he has more to offer in a Ghana shirt and is determined to improve his performances after scoring against Chad in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Semenyo opened the scoring as Ghana cruised to a 5-0 victory at the Accra Sports Stadium on Matchday 5, marking his third international goal in 21 appearances since making his debut in 2022. His strike against Chad was his first for the Black Stars since netting against Angola in March 2023.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Lawrence Baidoo for SuperSport, the Bournemouth forward admitted he expects more from himself and is focused on improving his goal-scoring record.
“I definitely want more goals. Any player in an attacking position wants more goals, but I feel like my performances have been a mix of good and not-so-great games,” Semenyo said.
“I’m quite humble—I know when I’ve played well and when I haven’t. I haven’t been as decisive as I would like for the national team, but I believe I can do better.”
Reflecting on his time with the Black Stars, Semenyo acknowledged that his contributions have been inconsistent but remains optimistic about his progress.
“I would say it’s been a steady slope—just very average—but I know I have more to give,” he added. “I hope people aren’t judging me solely on these 21 games because there’s much more to come.”
With his confidence boosted by the goal against Chad, Semenyo will look to add to his tally when Ghana face Madagascar on Monday, March 24, aiming to strengthen their position at the top of Group I.
