Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus says he was happy to have received a signed shirt from Thiago Alcantara in 2018.
Kudus grew up idolising the Liverpool midfielder with his teammates also calling him Alcantara due to his love for the Spaniard.
Four years after receiving a signed jersey from Thiago, the Ghana international had the opportunity to share the same pitch with him when Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League earlier this season.
Quizzed on how he felt after the gesture from Thiago, Kudus said, “I knew some that knew him – Jerome Boateng, he’s half Ghanaian so because of the love I have for Thiago, I asked him if I could get a shirt from him.
“All the Bayern players at that time signed on it. I was really happy. I didn’t get to meet Thiago but this, for me I was really happy and I posted [on social media] to show my appreciation.
Kudus ended up on the losing side when he faced Thiago in the Champions League last year.
