Black Stars gaffer Charles Kwablah Akonnor has revealed the reason why he went to Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC dressing room during their game against Al Hilal Omdurman at the Accra Sports Stadium last Wednesday.
According to the former Porcupine Warriors coach, he saw the need to be in the team’s dressing room to offer them support and motivate the players to give their all in the match.
“I went into the dressing room with one motive, and that was motivate the boys to play with their everything to get a good result before the second leg”, he told Kessben FM in an interview.
On the other hand, the former coach of Kotoko also stated that, he was there in the dressing room to lift the morale of the players with his presence.
“You know I’m the National Team coach so I thought my presence in the team’s dressing room would be a good thing for the boys to do more because they know the Black Stars coach is around and a good performance would guarantee a call-up into the senior national team “, he added.
The Red and Whites lost the game to their Sudanese counterparts with a narrow 1-0 defeat at home and would return to Sudan for the second leg on January 5.
