Goals has been something that forward Asamoah Gyan never lacked during his time with the Black Stars of Ghana. Talking of goals, the Ghana international has scored some wonderful ones on the some of the world’s biggest stage as well as one the African continent.
However, Gyan has described the impressive winner against Algeria, during the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, as one that he will never forget.
Ghana’s all-time top scorer says that goal stands out tall for him as his best considering the situation and the talks that were being said about him prior to the game.
Speaking to TV3 Sports, Gyan said: “Talking about important goals, I think the one I remember was against Algeria in 2015. There were a lot of things that went on behind the scenes.
“I was serious sick and had to join the team five hours to the game. I scored and the team went through to the final. It is an occasion I will never forget because I risked my life to save the country.”
The prolific goal poacher also went on to talk about some of the goals he feels are of important as well but stressed on the specialty of the strike against the North Africans.
“I scored a lot of great goals – the one against USA [2010 World Cup], against England [Friendly]. They are very memorable for me but the game against Algeria, I will never forget because of my condition at that time,” Gyan added.
