Former Asante Kotoko and now newly signed defender Awal Mohammed has pledged his loyalty to the Kumasi based giants claiming he will play for one club in Ghana only: Kotoko.
The center back played for Kotoko between 2011/2012 league season and after been adjudged as one of the best center halves in the Ghana top flight, he signed on for Moroccan side Raja Casablanca.
But a fall out with his Moroccan handlers meant his purported move to Russian outfit Arsenal Tula fell on the blocks. He has been inactive at club level since with the fracas between Casablanca and Tula ensuring Awal was caught in the crosshairs. And in an attempt to ‘re-launch’ his career, the ex-defender is bidding to feature for Kotoko in the upcoming league and has said the decision was made easy as a result of his past ties with Kotoko and that he does not see himself playing for any other team in Ghana aside the 22 time league champions, which he echoed in an interview with Silver FM in Kumasi.
“I am ready and fit to play for my former club, Asante Kotoko and for that, I aim to re-launch my career. Though I am a professional player but I will never play for any other club in Ghana apart from Asante Kotoko”
The 2016/2017 Ghana premier league is set to commence this weekend with Kotoko locking horns with Liberty Professionals at the Baba Yara sports stadium and Awal will be looking to immediately hit the ground running.
