Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Officer, Nana Yaw Amponsah, has admitted that selling the club’s talisman Kwame Opoku has affected the team.
He joined USM Alger on a four-year deal from Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko in May for a fee around 500,000 euros.
According to the CEO, although the club’s Board and management team collectively took a decision to sanction the player’s move to Algerian giants USM Alger, he would have been okay if the play had stayed to finish the season.

Speaking on Accra-based Happy FM, the CEO said: “I wish we had kept Kwame Opoku until the end of the season we had the financial means,”
Opoku, 22, scored nine goals for Asante Kotoko before his departure to Algeria.
