Assistant coach of the Sudan national football team, Ignatius Osei-Fosu, has clarified his position regarding the vacant coaching role at Asante Kotoko, one of Ghana’s most prestigious football clubs.
Speaking to Luv FM, Osei-Fosu revealed that, despite widespread speculation, he was never officially approached for the position. However, he expressed appreciation for being considered for high-profile coaching opportunities, stressing that the timing of a job is a critical factor in his career decisions.
“In the first place, if your name comes up, it means that you have done a fantastic job. But nobody actually contacted me,” Osei-Fosu explained.
The experienced coach, who previously led Dreams FC, Medeama SC, and King Faisal F.C., emphasized that he approaches opportunities deliberately, ensuring that any move aligns with his professional goals.
“Timing of the job is always of the essence to me. When I’m picking jobs, it’s always the right time. I don’t jump into it. From the start of my career, my people and I have always talked about timing, so there have been different jobs at different times,” he added.
Osei-Fosu also disclosed that earlier in the season, another Ghana Premier League club contacted him, but he declined the offer due to timing considerations, illustrating his careful approach to career planning.
While the Asante Kotoko coaching vacancy remains open, Osei-Fosu’s statements suggest that he is open to the role if the timing aligns with his professional objectives, leaving the door ajar for a potential future appointment at the historic Kumasi-based club.
