Kumasi Asante Kotoko full-back Atta Kusi has assured Kotoko head coach Michael Osei that he will never defy club’s orders to take part in future community gala games, the player pledged on Kumasi-based Metro FM on Tuesday morning.
Michael Osei slapped monetary penalties on three of his stubborn players for playing in a Christmas football gala when it goes against the club’s internal rules and regulations.
The coach has said that he expects the highest standards of behavior from his players especially when midfielder Jackson Owusu broke a leg that ruled him out completely for the whole of last season (2015/16).
The affected players are central defender Osei Agyemang who will forfeit half of his one-month salary as punishment whereas Kusi and Tuffour Frimpong pay a fine of 100 Ghana Cedis each.
” We did not intentionally defy the coach’s order but I personally had to play the gala for my community due to the pressure from my friends. When you refuse to play the gala then they start to hate you and for this reason I decided to play one game for them and this problem emerged. I have always played these kind of games in my community even before becoming a Kotoko player. ” Atta Kusi told Metro FM.
“I promise the coach and Kotoko fans that I Atta Kusi will never play any gala games again. I do promise” Kusi pledged.
