Nana Yaw Amponsah the newly-named Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Officer has responded to criticisms from certain people that target his young age as a source of doubt after being handed the top CEO job at Ghana’s most successful football club.
The recently-named Kotoko board of directors – led by former Executive chairman Dr. Kwame Kyei – have been mandated to rebuilt the Porcpunie Warriors starting from ground zero and to achieve this huge mission the role of the Chief Executive Officer is vital.
However some critics – including former Kotoko Cirlces boss and club board member Bernard Xiel – see the 2019 Ghana Football Association Presidential candidate as a novice in terms of football administration to be handed the big job but Amponsah upon reporting to work on Monday for the first time since his appointment has squashed those criticisms.
“It is untrue that I am a newbie in football. I’ve done football for fifteen years. I hold Master’s Degree in Sports Law and Practice from the Leicester DE Monort University, UK.” he told Opemsou Radio.
“I have been a Club President and worked with world renowned football companies. Though I am young in terms of age, but not issues of football,” he added.
Nana Yaw Amponsah until his appointment as Kotoko CEO was the president of lower tier Phar Rangers football club and he unsuccessfully run to become the GFA President in October 2019.
