Ghana Football Association Executive Council member Nana Oduro Sarfo has attracted massive public backlash after his publicly demeaning talks about the state of the Berekum Golden City Park.
Football fans in the country were shocked and unhappy about the nature and state of the Golden City Park when pictures surfaced on the internet on Saturday ahead of the Ghana Premier League matchday 2 fixture between Berekum Chelsea and Asante Kotoko.
Camera images from the game has been described by experts as unfit for purposes such as marketing and branding while it also distorts football’s game flow.
However, the Ghana FA ExCo member who is a top official of Berekum Chelsea seems to have angered fans who complained about the bad state of the pitch after rubbishing all concerns raised during an interview with Accra-based Angel FM.
“Some of the players even play on grassless pitches so what are you talking about? Nobody has asked you to call me. I’m watching Nigerian movie and that is more precious to me at this point. We have finished playing the game and I don’t care about anything anymore. If you don’t understand go and ‘collect’ the three points from us,” he told Accra-based Angel FM.
He added: ”Nobody has tasked you to enquire why we played football on that pitch. If pictures are going around, what hasn’t happened before.
”I did not take anybody’s money before playing the game. I invested in my own game. That’s it. Forget it.
”We have played the game on the pitch, if you’re unhappy we don’t care. We shall continue to play on the pitch.”
