Ghanaian teenager Daniel Adu-Adjei capped off a strong season with AFC Bournemouth’s development team by scoring in the final of the Professional Development League, although his side ultimately fell to a 3-2 defeat against Brentford at Vitality Stadium on Wednesday.
The 19-year-old forward, who has been the top scorer for Bournemouth’s youth side this season, gave the Cherries an early lead with a well-taken goal. However, Brentford responded strongly, with Iwan Morgan and a superb strike from Romelle Donovan turning the game in the visitors’ favour.
Bournemouth managed to pull level through Harold William in a thrilling back-and-forth contest, but Brentford snatched a late winner, as Donovan curled home a second to seal victory.
Adu-Adjei, who rejoined Bournemouth in January following a brief loan spell at Carlisle United, spent January and February training with the first team, gaining valuable experience at senior level.
Throughout the campaign, Adu-Adjei played a crucial role in Bournemouth’s journey to the final, netting double digits in goals for the side and consistently proving his attacking prowess.
