Ghanaian defender John Boye is likely to miss Ghana’s 2022 AFCON qualifiers against South Africa and Sao Tome if he is invited.
Sportsworldghana.com understands that Metz manager Frederic Antonetti together with the board have agreed that they will not release any of their African players for the qualifiers due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.
Metz are currently chasing a Europa League place and they believe leaving their players especially Boye to come to Africa for the qualifiers is risky as he can easily contract the disease which will be a big blow to them.
The French side has as many as 15 African players in their first team with 14 of them being senior national team players.
